The process of applying to colleges and universities becomes more complicated and cumbersome each year. It is my goal to make this process as seamless as possible for our graduating seniors at Calvin Nelms Charter Schools. The following is information and links that I have compiled to hopefully simplify this process for you:

Financial Aid

All students seeking higher learning must fill out a form that is called the FAFSA. Whether attending a community college or university, it is critical that you complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid form (FAFSA) . Click on the following link to fill out the FAFSA You will need tax information for the current year available to complete the form. This form is to be completed each year while in your institute of higher learning. Our school code for Calvin Nelms Charter Schools which you will need to enter is 443523.

Scholarship Information

Please check individual college websites for school specific scholarships. Check back often on this website and with colleges. University of Texas and Texas A&M have early deadlines for their freshman scholarships, check their website! Make appointments with financial aid advisors at the college or university you would like to attend.

Information from the Texas Legislature on Automatic Acceptance at the Univerisy of Texas regarding the Automatic Admission Policy

Senate Bill 175, passedby the 81stTexas Legislature allows The University of Texas atAustin to limit automatic admission to 75 percent of the university’s enrollment capacity designated for first-time resident undergraduate students. The University has determined that it will automatically admit all eligible 2020 summer/fall freshman applicants who rank within the top 6% of their high school graduating classes, with remaining spaces to be filled through holistic review.
