Below is a syllabus of assignments for the Spring 2020 semester following Spring Break.


Week of March 16-20 - THEME BASKET
AVAILABLE IN TEAMS: Continue working on Theme Basket assignment from before Spring Break.  Assignment information can be found on Teams page.  Previously the plan was to have students perform a presentation of their Theme Basket in class; however, due to the change in circumstances I am altering this assignment.  Students need to create a presentation of their Theme Basket through PowerPoint, Google Slides or Prezi and email/share with me by Friday, March 20th at midnight.  If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me anytime via email at jlowrance@cnchs.net or call me during school hours at 281-398-8031 ext.129

Week of March 23-27 - WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF ART?
ALL LESSONS AVAILABLE IN TEAMS: Read and analyze the short story "Harrison Bergeron" by Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. 
Respond to writing prompt questions.
View and evaluate the short film 2081.
Compare and contrast the short story and short film.
Research Assignment on Wednesday, due on Monday, March 30th by midnight.

Week of March 30 - April 3
AVAILABLE IN TEAMS: Complete Research Assignment on Art.  Deadline Wednesday, April 1 at midnight.

Week of April 6-9
Available in TEAMS:  Evaluate four persuasive writing prompts and create a position (thesis) statement for each prompt with clear reasoning to support position.  This assignment will be due Monday, April 20th.
Please note April 10th is a School Holiday.

CATCH UP WEEK - This is your chance to go back and complete any missing assignments, so take advantage of it.  All previous Flocabulary assignments will open up for you to have another chance to complete.  Let's bring those grades up!

MONDAY - POSITION/THESIS STATEMENTS ARE DUE!

IN TEAMS - Top 10 Cases for Teens in the Supreme Court - Read & Analyze - Read the article provided.  Create a word document synthesizing and analyzing information in response to questions provided. Follow the directions provided.  Extra credit is optional.

In Teams - Continue assignment from last week.  It is due Sunday, May 3, 2020.

Week of May 4-8
In Teams - Choosing a Career.  Follow the established guidelines to determine a career that fits you.  Once your career is selected, create a resume following the template provided.  You should incorporate your understanding of what is required for your career choice and develop the resume accordingly.  For example, if your selected career requires a Bachelors Degree in Biology, where would you plan to go to receive this degree?  You are creating a resume for the job you want after completing necessary job requirements.


Week of May 11-15
