Meet Mrs. Hannah Blackmon

Blackmon

Welcome! My name is Hannah Blackmon, and I am passionate about helping students discover that history is more than dates and events—it's the story of people, ideas, and decisions that continue to shape our world today.

My educational philosophy is rooted in the belief that every student deserves a classroom where they feel safe, respected, supported, and valued. I strive to create an environment where all students feel included, challenged, and encouraged to take academic risks without fear of failure. Building positive relationships is at the heart of my classroom because I believe students learn best when they know they are seen, heard, and capable of success. While maintaining high expectations, I also believe learning should be engaging and enjoyable. Through meaningful discussions, interactive activities, and a little humor along the way, I work to make history come alive while helping students develop critical thinking skills that will serve them well beyond the classroom.

I have been an educator since 2013. Before joining Calvin Nelms Charter Schools in 2023, I taught 6th–8th grade Reading and Writing in Katy ISD and Waller ISD. Today, I proudly serve as the History Department Chair and teach 10th Grade World History, 11th Grade U.S. History, Dual Credit U.S. History, 12th Grade Government & Economics, and Dual Credit Government & Economics. I also serve as the Yearbook Adviser.

Outside of the classroom, I am blessed to share life with my wonderful husband, and together we have six amazing children. Our family includes our 22-year-old son, 19-year-old son, 13-year-old daughter, 13-year-old son, 10-year-old daughter, and 6-year-old son. We live in Hockley, Texas, where family is at the center of everything we do. Being a wife and mother has strengthened my passion for education and reinforces my commitment to creating a classroom where every student feels supported, encouraged, and valued.

I look forward to partnering with students and families to make this school year a successful, meaningful, and memorable one!
