Parents should identify the learning platform (Traditional In-person vs. Remote/Online Instruction) that works best for their student considering the following factors:
- Students need to have access to technology and an internet connection or signed agreement with home campus to utilize campus provided technology and/or hotspots.
- Not all courses will be available through Remote/Online Instruction.
- Both Traditional In-Person Instruction and Remote/Online Instruction will have the same grading expectations and follow the same curriculum.
- Daily class times and expectations will be communicated by the campus.
Student Expectations for Remote Instruction
- Attend class daily per the schedule and/or assignment submission for each day.
- Complete assignments according to the students' schedule.
- Participate in large and small group instruction for remediation and enrichment as prescribed by the teacher.
- Access teachers through office hours, help sessions, email and TEAMS.
Parent Expectations for Remote/Online Instruction
- Communicate any technology needs with the campus..
- Ensure your child is following their daily schedule for learning to take place.
- Monitor student work and grades in the parent portal account.
- Communicate any needs and concerns to the appropriate teacher.
- Communicate with your child daily about their progress in each course and encourage them in their studies.
Instructional Offerings
Calvin Nelms Charter Schools are offering both Traditional In-Person and Remote/Online Instruction. Both programs will follow TEKS-based curriculum. Should a family want to change their student’s selection at the end of the six week grading period, changes must be requested by emailing or calling their student’s campus 2 weeks before end of the 6 weeks.
